I Heart...

Valentines Day is coming up quick.  I love Valentines Day.  I love having a Valentine.  He is a good one.  A great companion, supporter, chef, and snuggler.  He is the funniest one I know.  We have all kinds of fun together- exploring the city, being couch potatoes, coming up with funny schemes (like suddenly becoming vegetarians).  Every day is an adventure with this guy.  I also think he is very photogenic.

Boxing Day...

It's Boxing day... I like the idea of having a little celebration the day after Christmas.  After all the building up and counting down to the day...it seems like the fun always comes to an immediate stop at the end of Christmas Day.  So I think this will be a new tradition, to plan something fun for the day after Christmas to ease out of the most loved holiday.  So much better than forcefully shoving it into a box for next year.

Today my Sister and her husband came over.  We went wine tasting and then had hamburgers and cocktails at our place, laughing the entire day.  We had so much fun- I love having a sister- her husband is a pretty nice guy too ;).

A Cup of Cheer

This is what Christmas looks like at our place.  So cozy, warm, and a little twinkly.  I love having our own home to decorate this year.  It really feels like we are home. Well, we aren't really home right now,  we are spending the weekend with Kev's parents.  So far we have had most of the cookies I made yesterday (they were a success, recipes soon I promise)- lots of spiced cider- chocolates and other delicious snacks.  I also went thrifting with my mother in law and we hit the vintage jackpot.  My bag was bigger than Santa's- seriously....

 

 

Cookie

One of my favorite things about Christmas time is the idea of making Christmas Cookies.  It is just so fun and glamorous, standing there in an nice pretty apron- glittery sprinkles, colored sugars neatly layed out on the counter, the sweetness wafting from the steaming hot oven... This is how it is at least in my head.....

In reality, it is a bit of a disaster and I always end up making more than one kind overwhelming myself with complicated, recipes, bake times, temperatures.  Flour is in the air- on the cupboards, sugar is sprinkled across the floor and every dish will dirty with no room on the counters.  But I love eating them so- tomorrow night that is what I am going to do.  Bake three kinds of cookies, after work and then eat them. 

Will share some recipes if they turn out.  I found this little santa mug last year at a thrift store, it is so old that all the paint has chipped off his sweet little face.  I think it is the cutest.

Oh Christmas Tree~

It is up!  The Christmas Tree is up and decorated.  I was hoping to do this Thanksgiving weekend, but things did not go as planned.  We bought a new fake tree this year to replace the really fake looking one we bought when we first got married.  The new one is growing on me. it is skinny and tallish.  I love the extra glow in the house.

We are on vacation this week! It is a stay close to home vacation.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Traditions- Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade- Home Made Chex Mix- Nibbling all Day. Familiar Smells and Spices filling the kitchen.  I love it all.  We ended up just having eggs and bacon for our Thanksgiving Dinner- because we were too sick to make anything more extravagant.  Luckily we were able to join our family for a real turkey dinner on Friday night.  Here are a few snapshots of our day.
