Cozy

Being pregnant through a pretty hot summer, I am even more excited for Fall than I normally am.  I found some fun things online today that would make for a cozy morning at home.  I think I'm dreaming though because I know that my mornings are going to be quite a bit busier with a newborn :).  But I can still dream, right?  I was really surprised to find many of these unique things at Target, love that store! And to make it even nicer the prices are very budget friendly.  Im definitely putting a few of these things on my wish list.  Links are below.

March in Pictures

March was a busy month we went to Vegas,  I had a Beach Retreat, and we celebrated my sister in law's baby shower.  The month was full of sweet treats, a growing belly, dinner plates devoured, a few mocktails, and lots of lots of napping.

Notes on a Weekend # 2

I finally have time to write about the second part of our trip last weekend.  Kevin found this little lunch spot that was absolutely amazing right off of the bay.  It is south of Bodega Bay so on the way, we saw the cows munching on the bright green grass and fields of mustard flowers.

We got to spot, The Marshall Store, and it is an unimpressive little lunch shack from the inside that has a few lunch offerings including an assortment of oysters, and a few sandwiches.  But when we stepped out onto the teeny tiny deck and found a seat on the weather beaten wooden bench- it was instant relaxation.  Well, it was freezing except for the few minutes the sun peeped through but luckily we brought some extra clothes to bundle in, other than that it was heavenly.  Kevin ordered Bacon and Chorizo Oysters, they were beautiful- he loved them.  I ordered a smoked turkey sandwich that was seriously the best sandwich I ever had, I even had them hold the bacon and it was delightful.  The Turkey and cheese were warm layered on a crusty soft SF sourdough roll with a chipotle mayonnaise giving the perfect kick.  I have been craving this sandwich every day this week- so we will be back for sure.  For anyone in the area, you have to check it out.

Final Weekend Note Post coming soon- Sausalito.

Notes on a Weekend #1

We had so much fun on our weekend adventure.  I'm going to post on it in stages to make things exciting.  It was a rainy chilly Sunday and after taking a 40 min long detour we made it to Petaluma.

Side Note: I'm really good at feeling directions "I feel like the freeway is this way" and I'm normally right. BUT I am horrible at reading google maps on our Ipad. It is an embarrassing secret that I seem to always get us lost.

We found this awesome antique store that was in an old bank from the 20's, it felt like a mobster was going to bust in at any moment and rob the place.  It was really great, complete with high ceilings, a real vault in the back with jail cell.  Here are some pics.  We were more excited about the building than the antiques. But we couldn't help spying a few fun pieces.

Finally the Weekend

It's the weekend!  My weekend will be spent house decluttering and freshening, menu planning and making way for our little baby bean.  We also have a birthday party to go to and a day trip to the beach/ some store research for kev's job/ brewery visit.  Should be fun.  Tonight though its a night on the couch catching up on the TV shows I fell asleep to last night...oops.

ps. don't you just love this funny little table cloth I found at the thrift?  So cute it barely fits my table but I think it is perfect.

On Treasure Hunting

My shopping style is treasure hunter.  I like to dig, paw, search for that treasure that I never even knew I needed.  Malls, are ok but I much prefer the places that take a little more work to find just the perfect thing.  That is why I love Thrifting.  I often dedicate an entire day to it, and it is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday. Thrifting for an entire day does take some preparation and strategy.  Here are some of the things that help me make the most of my adventure.

1. wear a comfortable outfit, stores normally don't have AC/ or Heat so dress according to the weather.
2. I wear a small cross body purse this keeps it close at hand but does not strain my shoulder.
3. Be prepared with cash many stores do not accept credit/ debit.
4. Be sure to take a lunch break/ snack break, thrifting can easily get overwhelming breaks are good.
5. Bring a friend, thrifting is so much more fun when you have someone to share it with.
6. Always pick up a hand basket or cart, you will be sure to find something that you love.
7. As soon as you see something you like, pick it up immediately. Otherwise someone else might snatch it up while you are deciding. You can always put it back later.
8. Stroll the perimeter of the store first then go toward the middle, this will help you from missing anything.
9. Some days you will have better luck than others, if your thrifting day is a bust don't give up shop often and you will be sure to find more treasures than you really need.
8. Remember to donate some of your unwanted items ,while you are there,  to make room for your new goodies ( I always forget this one).

Just a few of my favorite finds from last year... the bunny came from one of my sister's thrifting trips.  I just love incorporating these whimsical things with the pieces I already have.  Happy Thrifting!!

I Heart...

Valentines Day is coming up quick.  I love Valentines Day.  I love having a Valentine.  He is a good one.  A great companion, supporter, chef, and snuggler.  He is the funniest one I know.  We have all kinds of fun together- exploring the city, being couch potatoes, coming up with funny schemes (like suddenly becoming vegetarians).  Every day is an adventure with this guy.  I also think he is very photogenic.

Love is the best.
